Canotka Chapter had a very successful Spring Pow Wow !

We won the Pre-Ordeal ceremony competition, had many individual honors, and generally had a great time. Congratulations to all those who participated in the competitions !

Sharon Honeycutt: Canotka's New Chapter Advisor

We all know Miss Sharon and know that she'll do a great job for the Chapter, The Boys and the District. Congratulations!

Monthly Chapter meeting held at Divine Street Methodist Church.

• Plans for September canoe trip were discussed.
• Canoe trip will be a day trip on the Cape fear starting at 0900.
• Permission Slips will go out soon so we can get a head count.
• Chapter elections will be held at Fall Fellowship.
• This quarters newsletter will come out in about a week.
• Ceremony Team information was given out
• We discussed the calendar for the next 3 months.

Congratulations to Henry W. from Troop 779. Our newest Brotherhood Member!

Henry successfully did his brotherhood trail and had a couple of brothers from Troop 780 at his ceremony.

Tap Out was a great success despite a bit of rain. The ceremony team did an outstanding job and Canotka Chapter put on a spectacular show for the 2nd straight year. A public version of the legend was played, Chris Tart did an excellent job on the videos, the sound was outstanding, flaming arrows, huge campfire, and a return to the old style tap out.

But more important than a fabulous show, Canotka Chapter tapped out 14 candidates for induction into the Order of the Arrow.

I looked at the old site yesterday. Decided I didn't like it. It wasn't real clean or cross browser compliant, so I re-wrote it tonight.

Hey Brothers,

• I would like to remind everyone that we have a Unit election tonight at Troop 779.
• The election team needs to be there at 7pm.
• Troop 61 election has been changed from 3-06 -08 to 3-13-08
• The Chapter meeting which is this Thursday 3-06-08 at 7pm has been moved from Buies creek Baptist Church to Divine Street United Methodist Church in Dunn.
• This is only temporary and we will be back in Buies Creek next month. The Chapter meeting will focus on Tap-out practice for the Camp-O-Ree, pow-wow, and conclave stuff. It is very important that all involved attend this meeting.

It's that time of year again. Canotka Chapter Troop Elections. Please contact us to schedule a date for your troop's elections.

The ceremony team that has been practicing for Pre-Ordeal will switch gears a little and start planning and practicing for the Tap-out at spring camp-o-ree. If you would like to be involved contact us.

April 18-20, 2008 Cardinal Conclave at Camp Bowers

Canotka Chapter Fundraiser

Brothers, We are having another fundraiser on January 12th at the Erwin Church of God Family Life Center, so that the chapter can purchase materials for new regalia!

In addition to the Cape Fear District Awards Dinner, this is an OA Canotka Chapter fundraiser for the purchase of regalia. The brothers and advisors from Canotka Chapter will be cooking and providing the main meal that will be served at this dinner.

There will be a Canotka Chapter ceremony practice at 1:00 at the Erwin Church of God Family Life Center on the same day.

All brothers not involved in ceremonies teams (although any Canotka Chapter member is welcome to join the ceremony teams) should plan to arrive at the Church at 2:30 to assist in preparing the dinner.

Chapter Yard Sale

Brothers, We are having a yard sale so that the chapter can purchase materials for new regalia! It will be held at the Divine Street Methodist Church in Dunn on October 20th, 2007.

We need:

• Stuff to sell.
• Stuff to sell.
• Brothers to help sell it.
• All Canotka members to contact everyone in their troops so that anything donated can be stored until the sale.
